Invest in Perennial Decoration
This idea came from an early client of mine. She contacted me and asked “Can you help me plant a garden for my backyard wedding?!” I thought her idea was genius: rather than spend a fortune on cut flowers for a day, spend the same amount (or less) and end up with a garden that grows for years and years to come. I’d love to plant more of these in an effort to make celebrations more sustainable – ecologically and financially!
So, how does this wedding garden process work?
(Or a garden for any celebration, for that matter.)
Contact Me – ideally 4+ months before your celebration date
As soon as you nail down a date, hit me up to start the party garden process! Plants need time to put down their roots and feel safe before they’ll bloom and grow (what a metaphor for us all). If you’re running on a tighter timeline, we can still make things work – we’ll just need to get creative, perhaps with more colorful foliage or a larger investment in more mature plants.
Consultation – Getting to Know Your Vision
We’ll talk about the vibe you’re going for, the space you’re planting, and how much you’d like to spend. We can also talk about how present you’d like to be in the process – some folks want to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty to stay in budget. Or if you know your hands will be full, we’ll work out a schedule and budget, and I’ll hit the ground running.
Design
I’ll submit a design and plant guide for your approval, to make sure we’re on the same page before I start planting.
Planting
Boom! Time to get things in the ground.
Maintenance & Check-ups
If you’d like me to stop by to check on things and keep them looking fresh until your scheduled party day, I can be available for weekly, biweekly, or monthly visits.
Support Until the Big Day
If something goes in an unexpected way with your planting, I’ll help fix things to make sure that they’re looking lush by party time.
No Wedding Up-Charges
You’ll get the same sliding scale rate as the rest of my clients, $40-50/hr + material costs.
